Amherst's Unpredictable Weather: Why You Need North Coast Thermal

The extreme temperature fluctuations and high humidity in Amherst can take a toll on your HVAC system, causing it to work harder and leading to increased energy bills and potential breakdowns. The Ohio River Valley's latent heat loads and atmospheric corrosive particulates can accelerate the thermal fatigue of gas furnace heat exchangers and cause the oxidative degradation of outdoor condenser fins. At North Coast Thermal, we understand the importance of proper installation, maintenance, and repair to ensure your system runs efficiently and effectively. Our team of experts uses the latest technology and techniques, including Manual J Load Calculations and Manual D Duct Design, to guarantee that your system meets the highest standards of quality and performance.

Some of the common issues we see in Amherst include biological growth in dark evaporator cabinets during prolonged humidity cycles, secondary heat exchanger fouling in high-efficiency 90%+ AFUE furnaces, and frozen condensate drain lines during Polar Vortex events. We also address the persistent threat of refrigerant acidity and compressor slugging in aging residential heat pump systems common across the Great Lakes region. Our technicians are trained to perform Subcooling and Superheat diagnostics, External Static Pressure gradients analysis, and Psychrometric dehumidification cycles to ensure your system is running at optimal levels. We also recommend MERV-rated filtration efficiency to improve indoor air quality and reduce the risk of system breakdowns.
